Strategies

An action plan was recently adopted. Several objectives and strategies were created and will be pursued in the next few years:

1. Facilitate the development of an educational system that meets community and business needs.

• Facilitate/promote partnership between business/industry, education, families, individuals, civic leaders, etc. Sense of shared responsibility for education.

• Promote alignment within the P-20 System. Remove barriers to create seamless pathway.

• Align community/education/workforce resources.

• Educate/inform elected officials/leadership.

2. Create a regional culture that fosters continuous, lifelong learning that leads to individual and organizational adaptability.

• Tell a compelling story/develop and distribute collateral materials

• Identify existing projects/networks and connect conversations

• Identify successful regional stories and copy them

3. Improve access to and utilization of educational resources for northwest Missouri individuals, families and businesses.

• Mentoring

• Curriculum

• Career Exposure

• Inventory of what is available

• Affordability

• Identification of other barriers to access

With recent legislation passed in 2006 to create the Missouri P-20 Council, opportunities exist to work together to increase educational levels for all Missouri citizens.
